What Is It?

A revolutionary product developed to respond to our community’s desire to have a successful, environmentally friendly method of controlling unsightly turf weeds.

Beet Juice is an organic based liquid fertilizer made up entirely of food grade products. In the United States this product is utilized to fertilize and manage weed populations. The main ingredient is a molasses extract from the sugar beet. Other ingredients, such as nitrogen and potash are added to improve the fertilization value of the product.

It is a proven product. It has been in use in Montreal for the past 3 years in response to that city’s pesticide by-law. Homeowners and professional organizations there are now embracing this cutting edge technology.

Although we cannot market this fertilizer as a weed control product it does have an adverse affect on broadleaf weed populations.

How does this product differ from a traditional weed control program?

1. In traditional weed control programs pesticides are used to kill weeds – Beet Juice IS NOT A PESTICIDE.

2. Pesticides require people and pets to stay off of the lawn for at least 24 hours. – The Beet Juice product is completely safe, people and pets can play on the lawn as soon as the application is finished.

3. Traditional weed control products can make some consumers and neighbours uncomfortable as they require the applicator to place a warning flag in their front yards. – Customers that have signed up with the Beet Juice program never have to feel guilty about their desire for a thick and healthy lawn.

4. Unlike chemical pesticide applications, rain will not wash away the active ingredients. - Instead Beet Juice is absorbed by the root system of the lawn where it will wait for proper growing conditions to activate.

What else can you expect from a Beet Juice treated lawn?

  • It is a more effective fertilizer because, unlike synthetic varieties, it feeds the soil and increases microbial activity within your lawns ecosystem, enhancing thatch breakdown and enriching the soil.
  • As your weeds are weakened the grass plants fill in creating a thicker and fuller lawn.
  • Because this product is made from food grade materials it is safe enough to eat although we do not endorse such actions.
  • If you start the season with a lot of weeds in your yard and you want to get them in check quickly a couple of extra “BEET JUICE” applications can be added temporarily to your program in the spring or fall, depending when you start, to enhance the effectiveness and give your turf that professional look.
